Until my favorite recycled swimsuit company ECO SWIM put out the word, I had never even heard of Miss Earth.  Have you?

I’m not a huge fan of beauty pageants in general (objectification of women, etc) but if you’re going to do one, this is the way to go.  Miss Earth – which was founded in 2001 – focuses on environmentalism.  According to the pageant’s website:

Every year, 80 to 90 candidates from all over the world compete on beauty and knowledge of environmental issues.  The winner of MISS EARTH will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.

This year is Miss Earth #12, and delegates from Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland will all be sporting ECO SWIM – I assume during the swimsuit competition.

New Bathing Suit!

This is very exciting.  When I was in NYC earlier this week I met with an awesome eco-fashionista over at Eco Swim by Aqua Green.

New Bathing Suit!

I’ve mentioned them a few times, they make high-quality, beautiful suits from 100% recycled materials (including water bottles and plastic bags).  Their tagline is: Reduce your carbon footprint in the sand.  Love it.

And, my Eco Swim suit just arrived in the mail!  Here it is, pictured right.  I will be taking it on my trip to Nicaragua tomorrow, so stay tuned for more on the suit, the company, and the recycled materials.
