Soy Fabric for the Lactose Intolerant

We can all agree that dresses made from milk are awesome.  But for those of you not so into the dairy thing, there is SOY FABRIC! Made from discarded soybean husks leftover from manufacturing the food product, the fiber (sometimes called “vegetable cashmere”) is soft (like bamboo), antibacterial, easily dyed, moisture absorbent, and UV resistant.

Another miracle fabric? Well, it’s not as strong as cotton or hemp, but is often blended with organic cotton to create a stronger textile with many of the same qualities.

                                 Meet Josh and Layla:

I met them in New York in November. They’re an inspiring team.  Layla is the designer and Josh the attorney and photographer.  Together they created Between the Sheets, a lingerie and loungewear company that manufactures in New York City’s historic garment district, sources sustainable materials whenever possible, and absolutely refuses to compromise on style.

Between the Sheets (BTS) is a playful company. Literally. I did a post on eco-sexy lingerie a while back, and promised a few of my readers I would follow it up with one on eco-studly boxers.

Men: are you looking for soft and comfy boxers that are also good for the earth?  Here are a few places to shop:

The ones pictured here are made from recycled white pine-tree pruning, which, according to the site, is as soft as silk with the feel of cashmere and the coolness of linen.  It also regulates body temperature, is antibacterial, fast-drying and biodegradable.
